Valentine’s Day Self-Love Ideas

Photo snagged from the fabulous Lushaholic Blog

Though Valentine’s Day can be a wonderful day of the year, our society tends to use it to celebrate partnered love. But the truth is, self-love can be every bit as romantic—and spiritual. So we recommend making Valentine’s Day well-and-truly special by focusing on you and the way you treat yourself. If you are single and are feeling blue about Valentine’s Day, take a leaf from our book and pamper yourself by buying a self-love gift. And who do we suggest you give it to?

That’d be you.

Here are twenty gifts that you can get for yourself. Some of them cost only time and energy, whilst others are gifts that you buy. But all of them are about looking after you on Valentine’s Day. And planning to romance yourself. So mail-order or buy in advance for a special, warm glow.

1.     A rose quartz crystal to help you feel self-love.

2.     A box of chocolates. We love Lake Champlain.

3.     Our Mermaid Voyage sexual-spiritual course for women, which is FREE on Valentine’s Day.

4.     A deck of oracle cards. We love the Oracle of the Mermaids and Angel Tarot.

5.     A pair of luxury slippers. (Don’t ever underestimate the power of being comfy!)

6.     A BackJack for meditation.

7.     A new self-help book about loving you. We recommend Ecstasy is Necessary by Barbara Carrellas and The Art of Extreme Self-Care by Cheryl Richardson.

8.     A plant for you. Or a single red rose for you. Or a full bouquet for you (if you’ve never done that for yourself, and you can afford it, I recommend it. It’s quite a wonderful feeling!)

9.     A page-turner.

10. New underwear. We’re bonkers about Agent Provocateur, but if, like us, that’s a little out of your range, why not order from Victoria’s Secret or Yandy.com?

11. Cook yourself a meal. Something you adore.

12. A new sex accessory. You can shop online (we love Good Vibrations and Fucking Sculptures) or go to a store yourself. Alternatively, you can also take friends for a fun shopping experience.

13. A yoga subscription to My Yoga Online.

14. A new teddy bear. Seriously, consider it.

15. A DVD that you adore. And if there’s a movie that you already know and love, that’s a wonderful gift to give yourself.

16. Museum membership.

17. Cake!

18. Wine! Beer! Or amazing organic juice!

19. A long walk by yourself, for no reason other than being with you.

20. A long bath—for the very same reason. And, if you’re feeling luxurious, a bath bomb from Lush. If you love those bath bombs as much as we do, it’ll be one of the best baths you’ve ever had.

Thanks for reading! Guzzle up our sexy reads at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Go Deeper Press (for all e-readers), and we’ll love you forever. You can also receive a free erotic e-book when you join our super-sensitive, sex-positive, freebie-gifting email list. Hearts.

The Mermaid Voyage: Spiritual-Erotic Love Days

shutterstock_108989024“I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.” –Anais Nin, Mermaid Voyage hero.

Valentine’s Day can be a tough time for those who aren’t involved in romantic relationships. But it needn’t be, if we celebrate our selves. That’s why we’re offering a FREE Mermaid Voyage celebration from February 14th – February 16th, 2014, in which women — and those who identify as women — will fully and deeply enjoy an erotic romance with ourselves. The free Mermaid Voyage Love Days are all about having a romantic, erotic affair with ourselves — one that vibrates with spiritual-sexual energy and doesn’t have to involve romantic partners. (And if you’re interested in why it’s called the Mermaid Voyage, take a look here.)

To give a taster, here is the audio visualization from Day One of the Love Days:

The free Love Days will include:

  • Free daily erotic-spiritual audio visualizations, such as the one you find above;
  • Free video discussions of how to be our own best lovers;
  • Free daily affirmations and spiritual messages;
  • Free solo lovemaking tips;
  • Free Mermaid oracle readings for the whole group.

A fuller 10-day Mermaid Voyage will be launching in March for those who want to go deeper into their erotic romance with themselves, guided by the heart and soul of our Mermaid Voyage community. These 10-Day Voyagers will have full access to the Love Days materials, along with similar and more immersive offerings over the ten days. Prices for the full Voyage will be announced after the Love Days take place. Keep an eye on this blog, Follow the Signs Like Alice, and also the Mermaid Voyage pages, as the Love Days grow closer.

5 Ways to Harness the Erotic You in 2014!

shutterstock_106389134Happy New Year! We’ve been on a prolonged silence because we’ve been over in the UK with less internet than you’d imagine. But we’re back to bring you five ways of harnessing the erotic you, this year. Enjoy!

1. Remember that your erotic self lies inside of you. You can be richly erotic whether you are in a relationship, enjoying different partners, or being the solo sexual you. An affirmation to help? I am pure erotic inspiration

2. Enjoy erotica and porn without being restricted. What turns you on? What do you enjoy reading or watching? Give yourself permission to enjoy being aroused, and check out some new sources of erotic enjoyment. We recommend Blue Artichoke Films, Tristan Taormino‘s porn flicks, Kink.com, and the gorgeously queer Crashpad. (Plus you can check out our free Pornocore stories, or buy our books, if they’re for you!)

3. Invest in a new sex toy. Our current loves include the WeVibe, the Magic Wand, and, if you fancy donning a realistic cock this year, check out the Vixskin range.

4. Tell yourself that when you have sex with yourself or other partners, and you really enjoy the experience, you create a more loving you. Check out this great research on oxytocin if you need convincing (thanks to Plos One). And you can also enjoy the Mermaid Voyage this year, if you want to take part in a solo journey of pure, unabashed, erotic self-love.

5.  Look at your genitals in a small hand-mirror and tell them that they are beautiful. It is understandable if you don’t believe this statement as yet — society has shamed our beautiful sexualities for far too long. But tell your genitals anyway. Tell them they’re gorgeous. Tell them you’re grateful that they are a part of you. Because, if you do nothing else this year, loving yourself will take you a very long way.

If you’re a woman or woman-identified person who is interested in a solo journey into erotic self love, check out the Mermaid Voyage, which will be sailing this spring.

Erotic Mermaids! Win the Mermaid Voyage!

MermaidVoyageLogoSome say that a mermaid is half-fish, half-woman. But I take a different point of view. After all, there are so many people who feel like they are defined as “half and half” when really they are whole—complete and unique—just as they are.  Every time we look at ourselves as “half one thing, half another,” we’re failing to see the whole beauty of ourselves. And part of The Mermaid Voyage: A Two-Week Journey of Erotic Self-Discovery is accepting ourselves, right here and now, as gorgeous and whole.

(Also, ya know, I haven’t heard anyone define angels as half-person, half-bird!)

I sometimes wonder whether the “half-and-half” definition of mermaids has something to do with the stereotypes we buy into. At Go Deeper, for example, when we were designing the Mermaid Voyage, it was hard to find images of mermaids who weren’t skinny, with flat tummies, tiny waists, and (I’m guessing) 34C-sized breasts. And seeing how the Voyage is about romancing your erotic self in terms of body, mind, and soul, how on earth could we justify images of mermaids that always have the same body shape?

Well, we’ve done our best with the images we can afford to buy for the Voyage, but of course, as a small press, we have our limits. That said, we want to add some images and/or descriptions of mermaids with different body shapes to the Mermaid Voyage materials. So! Here’s a chance for you to win the Mermaid Voyage for free.  (Yes, you heard that correctly! A two-week self-love course, with daily audio visualizations and a wealth of other goodies, for zero dollars!) We’re asking you for portrayals of mermaids that crack open the general stereotype. You can describe the mermaid(s) in words or visually, and we’ll publish the winning portrayal on our blog and website. Here are the rules:

  • Submissions must be your own original work.
  • You need to be prepared to share the image on our blog in exchange for a free Mermaid Voyage, launching July 1st.
  • You must email your mermaid portrayal to GDP by June 20th (email address: submissions (at) godeeperpress.com). Please put “Mermaid Contest” in the subject line. Otherwise, we might miss it!
  • The mermaid portrayal doesn’t have to be erotic, but sensual, sexy elements are always warmly welcomed.

Good luck!  And a big “Yay!” to the rich variety of body types that we so value at GDP!

Yay for the Oracle of Mermaids - the mermaid on the cover may be slim, but she has a tummy!

Yay for the Oracle of Mermaids, which I’ll be using with Mermaid Voyagers – the mermaid on the cover may be slim, but she has a tummy!

Boston, You’re Our Home

Boston_downtown_skylineLana and I woke to radio reports of the first bombing suspect having been shot and killed. The morning only got worse: Our city is on lockdown while authorities search for the second suspect. Everyone who lives in the greater Boston area has been told not to leave their houses. Businesses are closed. There is no public transport or taxi service today. It must be the eeriest thing to witness: the Boston Common, Downtown Crossing, and Kenmore Square with hardly a soul to see.

It felt sore as hell to open our eyes to continued violence in the media, to see our friends’ reports on Facebook and Twitter on what they’re witnessing from their homes in the city. It’s been a long while since Boston has been wrapped by such atrocity and fear. That said, as a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, I know we’ll rise from it.

Here’s part of a transcript from an audio clip from Lana’s amazing Mermaid Voyage course, which will be available from Go Deeper Press before you know it and is particularly relevant:

“Remind yourself that it doesn’t matter what you believe in. You might believe in God, or maybe Nature, or maybe Divine Love, or maybe Angels, or Gods and Godesses. You might believe in the spirit world, or the power of animal spirits. Perhaps you simply believe in good. But whatever you believe in, it has the power to dissolve fears and shame.”

These words lifted me so high from this week’s continued tragedies. It’s a perfect reminder to stay centered and connected to what you believe in, especially during times like these.

Peace and love to all.

Sex with a Mermaid

The Mermaid Voyage: A Two-Week Journey of Erotic Self-Discovery.

The Mermaid Voyage: A Two-Week Journey of Erotic Self-Discovery.

So many of us, no matter how sex-positive, still carry burdens of shame when it comes to erotic self-love.  The notion of having “a romance with yourself” is quite widely accepted, but the notion of having an “erotic romance with yourself” — one that focuses on transformative, solo lovemaking along with self-love — is rarely voiced.  Not only do we need healing in this area and a way to shed the shame that others have handed us, but we also need to take care of our sexual selves and acknowledge that, regardless of whether we are in partnered relationships, we are our own deep source of erotic love and imagination — and no matter what comes, we can always have this.

That’s why we’ve created an online course called the Mermaid Voyage: A Two-Week Journey of Erotic Self-Discovery — a fresh offering from Go Deeper Healing.  And because this is the first time we’ve run the course, we’ll be giving it to you, with or without the gift box, at a very special price, in the hope that you will give us your feedback.  To find out more, including how to sign up for Mermaid Voyage updates, take a look here.

Quite apart from that, we’re also keen to share quotes from Lana’s erotic novel from Harper Collins’ Mischief.  Do take a peek below to get a little taster of Confessions of a Kinky Divorcee.  And if you do read it, we’d love to hear what you think.

May your day be a beauty, dear readers!

Thanks so much for supporting sex-positive lit.  To browse our erotic e-books, why not visit our website.  We’re also available on Amazon and Barnes&Noble for NOOK.  And we heart you.

Sexual Goddess Energy from Aphrodite, No Less

From the "Oracle of Mermaids" (Blue Angel Publishing)

From the “Oracle of Mermaids” (Blue Angel Publishing)

Yesterday, I did an oracle card reading to help me with the final steps of the Mermaid Voyage.  The Voyage is a new online course that I’ve been designing for Go Deeper Press — a two-week journey of erotic self-discovery for women who want to connect with the depths of their sexual-spiritual selves.

I used a Blue Angel deck called “Oracle of Mermaids” for the reading.  (With a guidebook by Lucy Cavendish and beautiful illustrations by Selina Fenech, it’s utterly spellbinding.)  And what card did I receive?  “The Return of Aphrodite.”  Cavendish’s guidebook tells me that this card relates to our burgeoning sexuality: “…when [Aphrodite] comes to you,” it says, “you are being reminded that it is possible to be sexual without being in partnership or formal marriage.”  Also:  “…she is returning to remind you of the beauty  and grace of laughter, of delight, of seeing all that is before you as wondrous and perfect in its own right, delighting as she did in the variety of beings on the planet, encouraging all to procreate, make love, sing, and revel in life.”  She is also a sign of “love and self-esteem, of a wish to be free for a time from ‘marriage’ or conventional relationships – a time to explore, to delight, to be sensual, and to be free, with no fear of retribution.”

And Aphrodite knew how to share sensuality with other women, the oracle tells us.  She wishes to “experience, to love, to be filled, again and again, with all the beauty this world has to offer.”

How amazingly on-point.  I couldn’t have received a better write-up for the Mermaid Voyage if I’d made it up myself!

Namaste, folks.
